ArtWeek Berkshires

RACHELE DARIO has worked in galleries ever since graduating college, and the first place was curating at Canyon Ranch in Lenox. She is now the owner of Greylock Gallery, 71 Spring Street in Williamstown. One of the artists she represents is TRACY HELGESON—whose painting, Green Land, is featured above—as well as Mary Sipp Green, John MacDonald, and 13 other artists. “So many people who have collected Tracy’s work have a great appreciation for the composition. It’s simple in nature and complex in other ways—the brushstrokes, the underpainting, the contrasts of the colors,” says Dario. Helgeson, who lives in Cooperstown, New York, is inspired by the natural beauty surrounding the farmhouse where she lives and works. View more of her work during ArtWeek Berkshires from September 16 to 26, a joint project of 1Berkshire and five cultural districts—Williamstown, Great Barrington, Lenox, North Adams, and Pittsfield. Upwards of 80 events are planned.

Helgeson’s painting style—praised for its thoughtful composition, layered brushstrokes, Melon Playground and subtle contrasts—illustrates the type of meaningful and carefully crafted art that the gallery values. The admiration expressed by collectors further reinforces the impact and quality of Helgeson’s work.
