Cheers to Hotel on North, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary! One of the wonderful things that the beautiful boutique hotel in dowtown Pittsfield does is regularly exhibit works by regional artists for all to view. Sally Tiska Rice, a lifelong Berkshire resident, will be Hotel on North’s featured artist from July 1 through September 1. There will be a special “Meet the Artist” afternoon on Saturday, July 12, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the hotel. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Sally in person, explore her creative process, and hear the inspiring stories behind her work. Her paintings draw from deep wells of personal experience, including her journey as a spinal injury survivor—and now, as she bravely faces breast cancer with strength and creativity. Her art is not just visual, it’s emotional, healing, and vibrantly alive. Sally has worked in many mediums, including watercolor, acrylic, oils, pastels, and mixed media. Her style blends atmosphere, memory, and light. She has been employed as a hand bordering artist with Crane & Co., Inc. since 1998, where she has enjoyed being a part of creating new techniques and designs. Sally attended The New York City Stationery Show in 2010 to demonstrate the art of fine hand bordering. While at Crane & Co., she has hand bordered for customers such as Tiffany’s, Cartier, and William Arthur. She has also painted borders on personal stationery for Elizabeth Taylor, Henry Winkler, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Jennifer Aniston, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, and other notables. Congratulations on the upcoming art exhibition, Sally, and congratulations to Hotel on North for a decade in the heart of downtown Pittsfield! hotelonnorth.com; sallytiskarice.com
